GPX Tool Help

GPX, or GPS Exchange, files are used to import and export GPS user data between tools and devices. This tool reads a GPX file and converts it to a CSV, or Comma Separated Value, file which can be read by a spreadsheet program. In the future, this app will also allow you to clean up a GPX file.

Start at the top of the screen and work your way down. Unavailable options are greyed-out.

The GPX Tool performs two functions—creating a CSV from a GPX file and cleaning up a route in a GPX file.

Creating a CSV File

To create a CVS file from a GPX file, do the following:

Cleaning a Route

There are up to three functions performed by clean route; Reordering waypoints, cleaning waypoint symbol names, and hiding waypoint names. There are two levels of cleaning— Clean All cleans all waypoints, but the default is to clean only automatic waypoints, and leave waypoints like anchorages alone.

After uploading a GPX file, the Clean Route button will be enabled if there is a route. Do the following to clean routes in the uploaded file:

This tool should work on any device with a browser, but it is optimized for a PC.
